Binho has joined the Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF), the industry group that has driven interoperable optical networking since 1998. Its members span the hyperscalers, silicon vendors, optical-module makers, and test-and-measurement companies building the interconnect that carries the world’s data.
Our place in that world sits on the module management plane. As optical modules grow more capable and lane counts climb toward 1.6T, the low-speed bus that configures and monitors each module is moving from I²C to I3C. The OIF is adding an I3C option to its Common Management Interface Specification (CMIS), the standard that governs how a host talks to a pluggable module. That shift lands squarely in the protocol domain Binho has built its tools around.
Our I3C tools are a natural fit for this work. The Binho Supernova acts as an I3C controller or target, so engineers can emulate a host or a module and bring up the management bus before silicon is final, and our I3C protocol analyzer gives full visibility into the traffic on it. Together they cover the firmware bring-up, register-map validation, and pre-interop debugging that module and system teams depend on.
Joining the OIF puts us in the room with the optical, silicon, and test-and-measurement leaders shaping this transition, and it lets us bring the management-plane bench tools that module and system engineers need as CMIS moves onto I3C. We will share more as our involvement grows.
